EXPERIENCE
Senior Cloud Operations Engineer Shell Energy Retail Ltd/Oct22-Feb24
As a key member of the Cloud Centre of Excellence (CCoE) Infrastructure Team, I have spearheaded the adoption of Infrastructure as Code mindset within this specialized team, facilitating the seamless deployment of infrastructure artifacts. In this capacity, I serve as the point of contact for Project Teams, taking a lead role in comprehending network requirements and orchestrating the deployment of network rules to facilitate the smooth flow of essential messages.
- Infrastructure as Code Champion: Cultivated an Infrastructure as Code (IaC) mindset within the CCoE Infrastructure Team, streamlining and enhancing the deployment of infrastructure artifacts.
- Project Collaboration: Act as the liaison between the Infrastructure Team and Project Teams, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of network requirements and overseeing the subsequent deployment of network rules to accommodate essential message flow. Blue Prism, boasting the application of artificial intelligence is one such project where I co-ordinated and implemented platform readiness activities.
- Efficient Issue Resolution: Proactively respond to Jira tickets, predominantly addressing Business as Usual (BAU) requests for a diverse range of infrastructure changes, ensuring timely and effective solutions.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Established as a Subject Matter Expert for the Pulse Secure Network Load Balancer, where I play a pivotal role in implementing rules for virtual traffic managers, contributing to the overall efficiency and security of the network infrastructure. Recognised as the expert in AWS Security Hub by co-ordinating remediation activities for relevant alerts at code level and ensuring repository owners meet similar requirements.
Senior Cloud Platform Engineer Shell Energy Retail Ltd/Oct21-Oct22
In my role as a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer, I played a pivotal role in advancing Shell Energy Retail’s cloud infrastructure through the development of Terraform code, embracing the Infrastructure as Code paradigm for efficient and scalable resource deployment.
- AWS Security Hub Implementation: Led the Terraform deployment of AWS Security Hub, successfully covering the entire Shell Energy Retail estate. Subsequently, orchestrated the remediation of identified security findings, contributing to the enhancement of overall security posture. Goto person for Security Hub remediation, co-ordinating the allocation of remediation efforts across teams ensuring findings are resolved at code level and through the stack.
- Git Repository Development: Engineered a robust Git repository specifically tailored for the deployment of S3 buckets using Terraform. This strategic initiative not only centralized configuration management but also empowered the specification of storage types and other properties. Furthermore, it enforced best practice security policies, ensuring a secure and standardized deployment of this critical artifact. This was one of a number of similar efforts where I led the development of sophisticated Terraform code, optimizing the deployment of resources and promoting the adoption of Infrastructure as Code principles across the organization.
- Innovative Solutions: Continuously sought and implemented innovative solutions, ensuring that the deployment processes were not only efficient but aligned with industry best practices, contributing to a more robust and secure cloud infrastructure.
Senior Technical Engineer Shell Energy Retail Ltd/Jan20-Oct21
As a key member of the Engineering team, I played a pivotal role in the AWS Cloud migration project, employing a strategic approach to categorize resources and implement diverse migration strategies. This involved orchestrating Lift and Shift processes utilizing CloudEndure, automating workflows with Terraform, and constructing resources manually within the AWS Cloud environment.
- Strategic Cloud Migration: Engaged extensively in the AWS Cloud migration project, actively contributing to the engineering team’s efforts. Spearheaded the categorization of resources and implemented migration strategies tailored to each, encompassing Lift and Shift methodologies with CloudEndure, automated deployments through Terraform, and manual construction within AWS Cloud.
- Specialized Cloud Migration Leadership: Led the successful deployment of the Energy Trading System Contigo, a distinctive and complex cloud migration project. Demonstrated a technology-agnostic skillset by deploying Windows-based application servers with a Microsoft SQL Server backend. This achievement underscored my ability to navigate diverse technical landscapes and deliver solutions with precision.
- Technology-Agnostic Skillset: Showcased a versatile and technology-agnostic skillset, ensuring the seamless deployment of the Energy Trading System Contigo. Managed the intricacies of a Windows-based application server with a Microsoft SQL Server backend, highlighting adaptability and proficiency in diverse technological environments.
